LES CHAPELLES

The visitation

Built in 1663, the Chapel of the Visitation is the appearances of Christ to St. Margaret Mary (1647-1690). The appearances begin on 27 December 1673 on the feast of St John, the apostle who rested on the heart of Christ, completed in June 1675. "Voici ce coeur qui a tant aimé les hommes.." source of theological pilgrimage to the Sacred Heart.

 

La Colombière

Saint Claude la Colombière (1641-1682) Jesuit priest, became spiritual adviser of Marguerite-Marie and authenticates the revelations made by Christ to the holy, with him as his "faithful servant and perfect friend." On the 2 July 1688, the Visitation become custodians of divine messages and the Jesuits are responsible for the spread of the cult of the Sacred Heart.

The Byzantine chapel of inspiration and art deco, built in 1929 by the Jesuit priest Bossan, has his heart in a big and beautiful mosaic (47m²) is the revelation made by the Mother of God (1688).

Le parc des Chapelains

Place of great feasts of pilgrimage to the Sacred Heart, the green lung offers calm and collected. A slide show presents the life of St. Margaret Mary and the apparitions of the Sacred Heart.

Le parc du Moulin-Liron

This landscaped park of fifteen acres hosted Pope John Paul II in 1986. There is planted 850 species of hardwoods and conifers, including the famous "gingko biloba", the tree to the ECU 40. Fitness and children's games.

Le musée Paul Charnoz

Ceramic tile art

Created in 1877, the Museum Charnoz Paul is the sole repository of memory and working of industrial ceramics in Paray-le-monial.

Le musée eucharistique du Hiéron

National musuem

Created in 1875 by Jesuit Father Drevon and Baron Alexis de Sarachaga, this museum-library was completely restored in 2005.

LA BASILIQUE

Romanesque style, built in the image of Cluny, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart since 1875, the parish church of Paray-le-Monial, historical monument since 1846, received the visit of Pope John Paul II in 1986.

 

La Tour de Saint Nicolas

Parish Church of the sixteenth century, the Tour Saint-Nicolas suffered the onslaught of the Revolution to become a prison, then municipal hall where the worship was abolished in 1792. The whole is a historical monument.

 

L'Hotel de Ville

Built between 1525 and 1528 by wealthy merchant Peter Jayet draper, this Renaissance building is admired for its facade decorated with medallions finely carved in limestone, as well as its pilasters and cornices inspired Italian Renaissance. This beautiful house is home to City Hall.
